About:

A homage to "Relativity" by M.C. Escher, one of my favourite artists.

I tried exploring different perspectives and combining them into an interesting original composition that would work from multiple angles. The most fun thing about this composition is that you can flip it around and it will still work. Especially when kept as a square.

My association with such impossible rooms is that of being trapped inside the labyrinth of our own minds. As represented by the static, solid and unmoving stairs, walkways and tunnels that send your head spinning as you attempt to navigate them.

As we look inward we find that our minds can be strange places filled with unexpected corners and hidden mysteries. The things that I encounter within myself both scare and delight me, as I puzzle together the true definition of me. A daunting adventure, but surely a worthy one!

I had fun adding an element of human agency to this process of introspection as represented by the wooden ladders. Ladders that can be moved to reach new places and unlock previously unimaginable ways of thinking.

I will wander around inside my own head as I must confront the strange beauty and twisted ugliness that I find there. The challenge is to accept these aspects of myself and to learn to respect and love the person I am inside.

Apologies for the philosophy, I hope you enjoy this work. Take care :)
