About:
This work is about learning to appreciate the things that you have/have accomplished. We live in a world where bigger better products, experiences and accomplishments are constantly fed to us by companies and social media.
I find that this affects me a lot as I have a tough time appreciating the things I have and what I have done since I feel the need to constantly be on the hunt for the next big thing. Be that experiences, accomplishments or future goals. This means I rarely allow myself a break to enjoy the things that are there with me in the present.
This drawing represents how I often find myself so caught up in looking at my goals that are so far away. The stars in the night sky for example, are beautiful, distant, magical and full of promise. I spend all my time looking for these things that I could do and could have.
I end up forgetting that I stand in a field of beautiful roses. Thousands of precious little things that have given my life so much value. Relationships, experiences, accomplishments. They are all there, I just need to look around and appreciate them.
It sounds strange but this is something that I am still learning. To allow myself the time to appreciate what is there before rushing off to the next thing down the line.
